Went to Optician on friday. I now have early dry macular degeneration in my right eye. That scared me far more than being told I had RA. My first question of course was "Am I going blind?" She said "No" Phew!!! I need to take tablets - yes tablets for my eyes! Never heard of that before but she said I was a bit young for it to start, although my son Joe who works for a blind charity said people have it in their 40s. These tablets are a kind of food supplement that contain something that is present in things like shrimps and oysters that we or I don't eat very often. (I thought that sounded a bit fishy ) She said they were safe to take with mxt because she hadn't heard otherwise but to ring rheummy to check. Yes, you've guessed it they had no idea but thought it would be ok as no info said otherwise. I have left it with my son to research but I think it will be ok. What choice do I have really? Isn't life a tease sometimes. Good job I still have my sense of humour eh! Anyone got the same or heard of or taken the tablets called MacuShield. Love Sheila x

Oh bummer Sheila. At least they've caught it early. Can't help with the meds as I only take drops for glaucoma. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Sheila
Sorry that you have yet something else to deal with. I hope that the tablets do all that they are supposed to without any side effects.
Best Wishes
Sue

Hi Sheila, Sorry to hear that you have another " spanner in the works," with your eye problem. I hope the tablets do their job, and you get along all right with them. Something present in oysters, you say? Aren`t they an aphrodisiac...........................??? Take care, Kathleen xx PS Watch that Doreen on Saturday - she might go off hunting for naked men!

Hi Sheila So sorry to hear that you now have an additional problem to contend with. It can be quite frightening when your eyes are affected as I know from my own experiences of steroid induced damage to the lenses which required surgery on both eyes. At least your optician seems to be on top of the job and early diagnosis could slow/halt any progression. Hope the tablets do the necessary Lyn x Macbeth?? Do I need to dig out my costume in readiness for Saturday? And there was me thinking it was going to be all Christmassy!!

Hi Sheila, I've only just seen this and I'm so sorry you have this problem with your eyes on top of everything else. Hope the tablets work well for you. As for the remarks about me and naked men....with my usual dignity I will ignore them Love Doreen xx

Sheila, my love, I'm so very sad to hear about this. I don't really know much about this condition, but as Julie says, they've caught it early and we hope and pray the tablets do their trick. Hmmm.... oysters? shrimps? As Kathleen said - aphrodisiac... Don't worry about bringing a costume Lyn - just come as you are !!!!! Cauldron is packed and ready. Going to get the polyfilla "thawing" soon so I'll be properly primed tomorrow
